BCC degree students to pay tuition

FIRST IT WAS TUITION FEES at the University of the West Indies, now students will have to pay for degree programmes offered by the Barbados Community College (BCC).

The Howells Cross Road, St Michael institution, which for some years offered degrees in fine arts and education, has this year added bachelor of science degrees in nursing and pharmacy after more than 20 years of preparing students for associate degrees in these two areas.

BCC students will now have to pay annual tuition fees ranging from $2 500 per year for the bachelor of education degree to $3 000 per year for the three-year BSc in pharmacy.

BCC registrar Sydney Arthur told the DAILYNATIONthat with tuition fees for the degree in pharmacy reaching $9 000 for Barbadian students at the college, a programme was being devised to allow students to pay 50 per cent of their fees next month and the rest in January.
