Grave situation

IT IS THE living more than the dead who put a fright in some Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) general labourers working in the spooky premises of Christ Church cemetery.

In fact, they say sometimes they feel as though they too are on their way to the underworld based on some of the actions of the living, occurring in the graveyard.

“We does be frighten for the living not the dead. The dead don’t do yah nothing, it’s the living. You know how much shootouts da had already last night? That was the living,” a group of them stated while chiming in to finish each other’s sentences.

Genetha Walcott has cleaned cemeteries for 15 years and McLita King for 18, and some things still perplex them all these years later. For instance, both claimed they hear violins playing and smell the strong odour of powder during the months of February and December.
