IN SPITE OF limited financial support, Brian Talma is going full steam ahead with his annual Paddle Around Barbados.
The race is scheduled for late September or early October, depending on the weather. Unlike previous editions when the event was by invitation only, Talma is throwing the door open and it is now open to anyone who is capable of completing the gruelling race.
The race is a part of Talma’s Beach Culture World Tour. He visits various countries around the world and introduces surfers to what Barbados has to offer as a surfing destination.
Talma is being supported by long-time sponsor the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association and he is hoping others come on board to help offset the costs of staging the event. His vision is to bring in international surfing stars but that will only be possible if more sponsors come on board.
