THE Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies was unable to pay its staff yesterday as it experiences a cash crunch.

Staff also received notice that the campus was in the process of negotiating with the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and the West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT) to withhold increments for this academic year.

The DAILY NATION understands that these two developments did not go down well with some staff members and there was talk that some form of industrial action was being contemplated.

When contacted, communications officer Chelston Lovell said staff would be paid soon.
