GOVERNMENT IS NOT ignoring the plight of Dominica but has to ensure it makes an appropriate response.
Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite told the media during an impromptu briefing they were awaiting a Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) report to be made around 3 p.m. to see exactly what was needed.
“This morning a team from CDEMA flew into Dominica . . . and if all goes well we should have a copy of all that is required by the people of Dominica and be able to have a comprehensive update and be able to make a coordinated response.
“We are very sympathetic to the people of Dominica . . . but in disaster recovery, one of the errors people make is to believe that you just automatically know what a country needs,” he said.
Brathwaite said money had already been put aside by the Caribbean Development Bank and Government had alerted its international partners. (CA)
