GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN CRITICISED for its response to the situation in storm-hit Dominica.
Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) MP Cynthia Forde chided Prime Minister Freundel Stuart yesterday for not coming up with a plan as yet to assist Dominicans, who suffered last Thursday at the hands of Tropical Storm Erika.
Speaking at a BLP St Peter branch meeting at Alma Parris School, Forde said that as Caricom chairman, Stuart should have called up his colleagues and come up with a strategy by now to help their neighbour, where Erika killed at least 20 people and left widespread devastation.
“I do not understand why Barbados, where the Prime Minister is the lead person in Caricom, has not called his colleagues together and said, ‘Look, these are the strategies that we will employ’. Barbados has always been in the vanguard of helping out. What is happening now?” she asked.
