THE BARBADOS COAST GUARD’S pride and joy, the HMBS Trident, sailed away last night from its base just off the Spring Garden Highway headed for storm-ravaged Dominica, loaded with foodstuff, drinking water and other supplies.

The grey 42.7-foot vessel was scheduled to arrive in the capital Roseau sometime early this morning.

The supplies are expected to be directed immediately to those on the ground in Dominica representing the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), which has the lead role in helping the Nature Isle recover from the battering it took last Thursday from Tropical Storm Erika.

Up to Press time last night, more than 20 people had already been declared dead, with more than half-dozen still missing but presumed dead.
