Floyd flashes his US$4.8m car – Saturday Sun, August 29
BOXER FLOYD MAYWEATHER, already the highest paid athlete on the planet even before garnering about $180 million in his bout with Manny Pacquiao, now has plans for one more lucrative payday in his upcoming fight against Andre Berto before retiring from boxing. But why is it that clear evidence demonstrating that he committed at least seven brutal physical assaults on five different women hasn’t diminished his reputation, his wealth or his fame?
Mayweather’s misogyny is well documented, but he is apparently exempt from the rules governing lesser mortals because he’s “a franchise” who generates enormous amounts of money for boxing and for Nevada. Following the Berto fight he will be able to count his riches for his brilliance with his fists, secure in the knowledge that the beatings he gave women will be merely an awkward footnote to his story of greatness and grandeur.
