A SPECIAL MEETING of supermarket owners, other key stakeholders and officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) has been called early this week in a bid to resolve outstanding concerns about changes to the basket of goods.

The directive was given by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler following reports of confusion about the changes that took legal effect September 1.

Sinckler told the SUNDAY SUN he was “more than a little surprised” that these issues were cropping  up at the “proverbial  last minute”.

He said operators had been given two and a half months in which they could and should have raised concerns with the authorities about the new list or the process itself in advance of the start date of the initiative.
