ANTONIO “LIL MAN” DANIEL won’t be defending his title but look out for the deadly Annderson “Blackdog” Richards when the second edition of the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union (BPWCCU) Monarchs of the Court Road Tennis Tournament serves off tomorrow at the Wildey courts.
The inaugural series had seen shots master Daniel defeating road tennis’ most decorated player, Julian “Michael Jackson” White, to claim the grand prize of $10 000.
White will be hoping that he can claim that big prize this year in spite of expected fights from Richards, No. 1 seed Mark “Venom” Griffith and a host of talented youngsters.
With the addition of a women’s section offering a top purse of $4 000, president of the Professional Road Tennis Association (PRTA), Dale Clarke, had many reasons to declare that he was not worried about the start-up of another popular national tournament this weekend.(KB)
