Call for Bajans to secure homes from hurricanes

A CALL IS COMING from corporate Barbados for people to secure their homes without taking for granted the limited number of direct hits by hurricanes over the years.

At the Six Roads Industrial Park office of Talius Barbados, which manufactures hurricane protection equipment, operations manager Andrew Gittens advised Barbadians that it was very important to safeguard their homes from hurricane or storm damage.

He urged homeowners to at least create a “safe room” in the home.

“Start early and get someone to come in and have a look. Find a safe room – which is one of the more secure roomsin a person’s house, advisably one witha bathroom,” he said while taking Minister of Industry, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss on a tour of the St Philip plant last Friday.
