MASSY STORES SPARTAN eased their relegation woes by defeating pre-series Barbados Cricket Association’s Elite championship leaders Brathwaite Construction/Crane Resort St Catherine by 99 runs in a nail-biter yesterday.
The previously unbeaten St Catherine were set 280 in a minimum of 53 overs on the last day and fell for 180 off the fourth ball of what was likely to be the last over.
A masterful century by Kenroy Williams was not enough to save the home side. Williams’ knock of 108 from 167 balls in 165 minutes with nine boundaries and four sixes ended when he became the first of two wickets for off-spinner Chaim Holder. Williams fell with score on 177 for eight in the 54th over.
