TO KICK-START EDUCATION MONTH, students from several uniformed groups braved the morning sun and marched from Oistins uphill to Christ Church Parish Church for a service yesterday.

At 9:20 a.m., under the supervision of the Barbados Defence Force, the students who represented the Barbados Cadet Corps, Brownies, Girl Guides, Cub Scouts and Air Scouts, started their rhythmic trek to the beats of the Cadet Corps band.

Ministry of Education officials, educators and a number of people from a cross-section of Barbados were in attendance for the service held under the theme Transforming Education: Imagine, Explore, Create.

The sermon was delivered by Minister Dwight Saul, who in his 18-minute sermon evoked a measure of laughter but also struck a serious note. (TG)
