BARBADIAN ARMED FORCES and emergency response personnel are still being lauded for their rescue and relief efforts in storm-ravaged Dominica.

The latest praise came from that island’s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, who made a brief stop at the Barbados Coast Guard’s headquarters off Spring Garden yesterday morning to offer his personnel thanks for the assistance given to Dominica in wake of the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Erika on August 27.

He arrived in Barbados over the weekend to attend Sunday’s benefit concert for Dominica held at Kensington Oval, featuring a number of local and regional artistes.

“The Coast Guard and the forces of Barbados played an integral role in the evacuation efforts in Dominica and also the transportation of supplies to many of the affected areas, and also provided security support to our police officers in Dominica,” Skerrit said.
