THE SUCCESSFUL BARBADOS senior athletes returned home from the Huntsman Games in Utah yesterday with a haul of 68 medals.

The Bajans, who captured 37 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze, were accompanied by Senator Dr David Durant.

While the evergreen Kathy Harper-Hall earned eight medals, the hero was Patrick Bourne, who set a record of winning six gold and one silver.

Pocket dynamo Shirley Harper captured six gold while her the grand old lady Brenda Farley, was adorned with four gold.

Bourne indicated that the competition was very stiff but he had set himself the challenge of becoming the first Barbadian male to win six gold medals at the games. (KB)
