ACTING CHIEF Fire Officer Errol Maynard, Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer Lloydson Phillips and members of the fire prevention unit led by Station Officer Henderson Patrick toured Swan Street Tuesday.
The exercise was to ascertain the state of preparedness of businesses in the area should there be a fire or other emergency, taking into account some businesses were unable to install emergency exits.
Overall, Maynard said he was satisfied with the results and said the fire prevention unit would continue to work with the managers and owners in Swan Street and The City to ensure compliance.
At Blessings Boutique, Deidre Thorne showed the fire officers her smoke detector and fire extinguisher. She said having such was a requirement.
