FORMER Member of Parliament Hamilton Lashley has thrown his support behind suspended West Indies coach Phil Simmons, and is calling on the Trinidad and Tobago public to boycott all West Indies Cricket Board matches played in the country.

Simmons has been suspended from his position as head coach after he told reporters last month that there was too much interference in the selection of the West Indies One Day International team.

Lashley told WEEKENDNATIONthat Simmons made an observation that every right-thinking and sensible West Indian supporter would have come to.

“For a long time there has been too much interference into West Indies cricket, political and otherwise. I believe that he made a very true statement and for that he was penalised and to me, in my opinion, not only penalised but victimised,” said Lashley.
