Maliah, Cherece take a bow

“THE season of excellence” continued Friday night at the Major Noot Hall, Combermere School, Waterford, where school-age children warmed the hearts of patrons with their lively displays of talent.

Ten-year-old Maliah Edwards of Praise Academy of Dance and teenager Cherece Richards of Frederick Smith Secondary took the spotlight among the 14 acts that performed before the judges at the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) semi-finals.

Maliah’s dance piece, directed by Marcia Weekes, was well executed. Dressed in a white dress and wearing emotions on her face to aptly express the words of the song Worth, the little dancer was flawless. The thunderous applause and shouts throughout the hall were evidence that those in attendance also agreed.
