Women’s League fetes Ina for her 100th

THE ACHIEVEMENTS of Barbados’ newest centenarian were saluted by the Women’s League of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) on Friday.

Five days after a visit from Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave on her birthday, Ina Ernestine Harewood received a bouquet compliments the Women’s League at the Golden Towers Nursing Home.

As one of the first members of the BLP’s women’s branch, she was praised for her invaluable contribution to the party and more specifically, to the St Michael West constituency by fellowship members and candidate for the constituency, Reverend Joseph Atherley.

A high-spirited and alert Harewood, who also served on the executive board, laughed while recalling the days when she spoke on political platforms, coordinated mass canvasses and organised fundraising activities for election campaigns from as early as the 1950s.
