My boyfriend is 24 years old and has a big problem. I believe it will hinder our relationship if we do move forward. He wets his bed. The few times I have slept by his house the bed is always rank. He has slept over by me four times, and on every occasion he wets the bed. What must I do?

Dear Concerned Young Girl,
Your boyfriend’s urinary incontinence is a problem. Bed-wetting that starts or continues into adulthood is something he should get checked out by a medical practitioner. There are many serious possible causes which might need evaluation. In some circumstances acute anxiety and other emotional disorders can be the cause of this bed-wetting problem, but this is not a situation which should be left to assumptions.
It must be as frustrating for him as it is for you to experience this problem. It can be humiliating for him knowing that this could put a wedge in his relationship. Encourage him to see a doctor and perhaps you may want to go with him. Your support may mean the world to him.
