HUNDREDS OF BARBADIANS were on a hunt for jobs as Standard Distribution and Sales Barbados held a job fair at Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, yesterday.

Organisers were caught by surprise as the hopefuls formed long queues anticipating a positive outcome as they applied for various posts ranging from seasonal to permanent positions.

Human resources manager for the retail sector, Alexia Halliday, said that in conjunction with looking for workers for the upcoming Christmas season the job fair was a tool to speed up the process.

She said that what was surprising was the over 400 people who applied.

“The job fair was supposed to start at 9 a.m. and persons were queued from 7 a.m. . . . ,” Halliday explained. (MR)
