Kraigg Brathwaite turned unlikely hero on Day 3 of the second cricket Test here yesterday, his often overlooked off-spin earning six for 29 to topple Sri Lanka and offer West Indies a fighting chance of sneaking the come-from-behind victory needed to square the series and grab a share of the Sobers-Tissera Trophy.
Sri Lanka, overnight 76 for two after securing a first innings lead of 37, were bowled out for 206 midway through the second session.
Set a target of 244, the visitors reached 20 for one, with Brathwaite lbw just before torrential rain arrived to wipe out the final session.
Earlier, the Caribbean side’s day began brightly under sunny skies with two early wickets as debutant Jomel Warrican and Jerome Taylor added to their overnight scalps.
