Police back in top league

POLICE will return to top flight cricket next year after earning an entertaining four-wicket victory over Lee Bistro’s Carlton at Weymouth “A” yesterday.

Led by captain Roger Williams, the lawmen executed an arrest warrant at 4:58 p.m. after Carlton set them 172 to win from a minimum 44 overs.

Williams stroked an unbeaten 53 as long-time leaders Police came from behind for the celebrated win. Police were in immediate trouble at 26 for three, but Williams, Police’s leading run getter this season, surpassed the 500-run mark. He brought up his 50 off 92 balls in 134 minutes at the crease with three fours.
