MINISTER OF FINANCE Chris Sinckler is appealing to international financial institutions to rethink and remove the statistical measure of gross domestic product to determine which countries have access to concessions.
Speaking at the opening of a one-week meeting of statisticians from across the region at UN House this morning, Sinckler said the data used is oftentimes “incorrect” and “inconsiderate” and places countries at a disadvantage.
Noting that countries have struggled significantly from being overlooked, Sinckler said there are other means of assessment which can be employed. (YB)
