TRULY EMBARRASSED! That’s how president of the Barbados Hockey Federation (BHF), David Rouse, feels about the long delay in getting the artificial surface out of the Bridgetown Port.
It arrived in Barbados more than two months ago to replace the one at Wildey, but has been held due to the lack of funds to pay the duties and taxes.
The National Sports Council’s board was slated to vote for funds to clear it at a meeting last Thursday but the matter was deferred.
“The turf hold-up is a clear indication of the authorities’ view on sports in Barbados and its contribution to the economy and maybe most of all the health and social stability of our nation,” said a clearly frustrated Rouse.
