New York remembers Joseph Niles

THE LIFE of gospel icon Joseph Niles was celebrated during a service of thanksgiving at St Leonard’s Church in Brooklyn, New York, last Sunday.

Organised by the hospitality committee of the Barbadian Ex-Police Association of America, the service drew a large supportive audience, including representatives from the entertainment fraternity in the tri-state area as well as from Barbados.

The tributes and glowing speeches in honour of Niles, who died in Barbados on September 19, showed how well loved and respected he was.

Some of his favourite hits, such as Just A Rose, Walking Up The King’s Highway and Royal Train were among the songs that reverberated throughout the chapel.
