NEWLY CROWNED First Division winners Police scored a hard-fought four-run win over Massy United Insurance Wildey to become the sole leaders in Zone A of the Sagicor Super Cup with 20 points.
The match at Polytechnic was reduced to 43 overs a side due to wet conditions, which delayed the start by two and a half hours.
Chasing 205, Wildey were limited to 200 for seven. Opener Shanadlo Taylor compiled 62 (107 balls, 4×3, 6×1) and Kyle Sargeant 37 (48 balls, 4×2, 6×2).
They added 72 in 103 deliveries for the fifth wicket after Wildey had slipped to 65 for four. Kofie Hurdle and Jerome Jerome Jones each hit 29 and kept their team in the hunt. Wildey needed eight runs off the final over but only managed four.
Police’s 204 for nine was built around Larry Babb’s attacking 58, which was laced with four sixes and one four from 48 balls. Steve Pinder claimed three for 33. (EDH).
