Justice system delays ‘hurting’

BARBADOS’ FLAWED justice system is causing undue, prolonged pain for the relatives of murder victims.

That was the cry of Senator Dr David Durant during a healing service at Restoration Ministries International on Sunday. He called for greater allocation of resources into the judicial system to speed up the trial process.

The pastor of the Brittons Hill, St Michael church referred to a recent article in the SUNDAY SUN where a man on a murder charge was granted bail after being on remand for a number of years, as an example of such injustice.

“What is clear, however, is that the justice system must do everything possible to remove all hindrances that have the potential to frustrate and pervert the course of justice. It is no comfort to those who have lost loved ones, having to wait for inordinately long times to get justice,” he added. (LT)
