BARBADOS’ GOVERNOR GENERAL Sir Elliott Belgrave is the first recipient of the 50th Anniversary of Barbados’ Independence Calendar for 2016.
The souvenir seeks to commemorate Barbados’ upcoming milestone and raise funds for the Preservation (Barbados) Foundation Trust.
Sir Elliott, also the patron of the Trust, was presented the first of 20 000 copies by project officer/administrative officer, Carole Bishop at Government House today.
Chairman of the Trust Sir Henry Fraser, deputy chairman Glenda Medford and treasurer Reverend Patrick Tannis were also present.
The calendar project is the first of a number of fundraising initiatives of the Trust and the proceeds will go towards the restoration of heritage buildings, the first of which is the Carnegie Library. (LT)
