Two plead guilty to drug trafficking

TWO JAMAICANS HAVE admitted to attempting to bring cannabis into Barbados this week.

Police say 33-year-old Monique Magola Robinson arrived by air on November 4 and a search of suitcase by Customs officials resulted in the discovery of two packages containing cannabis.

The drugs had a total weight of two kilogrammes.

Robinson appeared in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

She was fined $50 000 forthwith or two years in prison.

Meanwhile, 31-year-old Jerome Tobin Burrell Powell arrived on November 3 and a search of his suitcase resulted in the discovery of three packages of cannabis weighing a total of three kilogrammes.

He pleaded guilty to charges of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation and was fined $60 000 forthwith or three years in prison. (PR/NB)
