THE UNIVERSITY OF the West Indies, Cave Hill campus has for the first time opened its doors to Ecuadorian students.
For the next seven months, 50 Ecuadorian students will study English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at Cave Hill.
Campus principal Eudine Barriteau welcomed the group today and assured them that the campus would do all in its power to make their time in Barbados as comfortable as possible.
Regional administrative coordinator for the programme Sonia Johnson said the campus had received over 700 applications from Ecuador for ESL and in taking in a total of 130 students, it was the largest ESL group ever.
Another 80 Ecuadorian students who are also pursuing studies ESL studies will do so at the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Community College and the Dominica State College. (AD)
