Man pleads guilty to cocaine charges, fined $50 000

A ST GEORGE man has been fined a total of $50 000 after pleading guilty to four cocaine-related offences.

Thirty-four-year-old Orel Randy Omar Wiggins of Market Hill arrived by air from Trinidad yesterday and was interviewed by police after he cleared Immigration.

He was referred to Customs where a search of his luggage resulted in the discovery of two packages of cocaine. A search of his person also revealed one package of the drug. The total weight was one kilogramme.

Wiggins appeared in District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court today and admitted to possession of cocaine, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

On the charge of importation, he was fined $35 000 in six months or 24 months in prison. On the charge of Possession, he was fined $7 500 in one month or six months in prison. On the charge of trafficking, he was fined $7 500 in two months of nine months in prison. On the charge of possession with intent to supply, he was convicted, reprimanded and discharged. (PR/NB)
