THE INCREASING USE of guns in homicides in Barbados as well as the ease with which the killer weapons can be acquired are a cause for concern.
This is one of the conclusions reached by senior research officer of the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit Kim Ramsay who has just completed a homicide study.
Reporting on her findings at Almond Bay, Hastings this morning, Ramsay expressed her concerns about the “relatively easy” availability of firearms in Barbados, noting guns had taken over from knives as the weapon of choice to commit homicides.
However, Ramsay said Barbados has recorded a decrease in murders over the past five years. (GC)
