Belle: Ball in Maria’s court

EMBATTLED CHRIST CHURCH WEST parliamentary representative Dr Maria Agard could face dire consequences if she fails to turn up for a meeting where she will have to prove why she should not face disciplinary charges.

That is the view of political scientist Dr George Belle, who spoke to the issue yesterday.

Noting that the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) had no choice but to intervene in an apparent dispute between Agard and the executive, which she publicly stated she would not be acknowledging, Belle said anyone who refuses to do so is effectively making him or herself an independent. He said the political success of independents in Barbados was not good. (YB)
