North joins fun

A small bit of history was created when the NATION Funathlon brought the forgotten treasure, Speightstown, further into the spotlight yesterday.

For the first time in more than 25 years, the Nation’s premier event headed north as thousands from across the 11 parishes joined the movement which highlighted the cause of ending violence.

Residents from the area hailed the move.

Constable Rodney Archer, on a break from his ride around the community, told the DAILY NATION that hosting the event in Speightstown was a great idea.

“It is a good initiative. It will bring some life to Speightstown [today]. On Sunday Speightstown is usually very dead . . . ,” he said.
