Natural gas being imported

Government is importing quantities of natural gas to supplement the local supply in a bid to prevent a repeat of last year’s shortage, which continued into 2015.

Minister with responsibility for Energy Senator Darcy Boyce said at least one shipment is coming from Norway.

Additionally, a facility is expected to be commissioned soon as part of measures to shore up supplies on island.

“We have arranged to import natural gas and what we’re doing is ensuring that our facilities are upgraded,” Boyce told The Saturday Sun
