White, Edwards ace quarter-finals

TOP PLAYER Julian “Michael Jackson” White and talented Emar Edwards advanced almost unnoticed to the quarter-finals of the Massy United Insurance Clash Of The Titans road tennis championship on Friday night.

It was not that White’s dismissal of Michael “Mikey Jean” Jean 23-21, 21-11 and Edwards’ defeat of the crafty Winston “Charles McEnroe” Griffith 21-11, 21-10 were boring by any means. It was just that a group of “old men” stole the night at the Villages at Coverley.

The veterans were on show and Wayne “Ballus” Yarde almost backed up his pre-game boast to “cripple” Andrew “The Governor” Holder as his opponent had to survive game and match point to take the thriller 21-12, 18-21, 25-23.
