DETHRONED CHAMPION JOCKEY Patrick Husbands hit a pair of braces Friday and Saturday as Barbadian jockeys riding at Woodbine race track in Toronto won seven races last week.

Husbands, who remains third in the jockeys standing behind Eurico Rosa Da Silva and Luis Contreras, narrowly missed out on winning Saturday’s feature race, the Glorious Song Stakes.

His charge Conquest Babayaga was outfinished by Ami Mesa and jockey Luis Contreras in the CAN$125 000 event for two-year-olds over seven furlongs.

The Husbands double started with the chestnut filly West L.A. Girl, who triumphed going one mile and one sixteenth by three-quarters of a length in a time of 1:46.80. (LY)
