TO COMBAT THE ISSUE of indiscipline within the school system, St Lawrence Primary has launched a programme to deal with negative behaviour head on.

The Schools’ Positive Behaviour Programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and St Lawrence has chosen the theme of Order. It will teach children how to conduct themselves in a school environment.

District Education Officer, Shamin Ally said the reason for the programme was to see the full potential of the students – not only academically, but socially and emotionally.

This morning’s launch of the programme coincided with Literacy Week and the school’s week of activities for the 49th anniversary of Independence.

There was a flag raising ceremony and entertainment by the students. There was also an Independence Quiz today and on Friday, students will wear costumes depicting Barbadian characters. (MR)
