BARBADIANS AND VISITORS alike are expected to seek every vantage point to witness the skills and showmanship of the armed and unarmed units on parade at the Garrison Savannah on Independence Day, November 30.

Following the 8 a.m. ceremony, the detachments will march along Bay Street, where Acting Prime Minister, Richard Sealy, will take the salute at Government Headquarters.

The troops will then continue to Bridgetown along Lower Bay Street; under the Independence Arch; cross over the Chamberlain Bridge; and turn right on to Wharf Road. They will then make a right turn on to the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge.

The armed detachments will then turn right on Fairchild Street for their dismissal at Independence Square, while the unarmed detachments will march straight on to Probyn Street for their dismissal in front of the Barbados Fire Service.

Units on parade will be the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF), the Bands of the BDF and RBPF, the Barbados Cadet Corps and its Band, the Barbados Prison Service, the Barbados Fire Service, the Government Security Guards, and the Barbados Youth Service.

The Barbados Boy Scouts Association, the Girl Guides Association of Barbados, the Barbados Red Cross Society, the St John Ambulance Association of Barbados, the Barbados Landship Association, the Seventh-Day Adventist Pathfinders, and the Mounted Troop of the RBPF will also be part of the celebratory parade.
