WOMEN IN BARBADOS must not remain silent on the expulsion of embattled Christ Church West Member of Parliament Dr Maria Agard.

This was the cry of outspoken gender rights activist Marilyn Rice- Bowen, who described as “retrograde” the verdict handed down by the National Council of the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) on Sunday.

Rice-Bowen told the media after the launch of the 16 Days Of Activism campaign held at the Baobab Towers, Warrens, yesterday that for years women have had to fight for their rightful place to participate in elective politics.

She added that Agard’s expulsion was a step in a contrary direction. (SDB Media)
