THE IMPORTANCE OF living a crime free life was the focus today at the Grantley Prescod Primary School as they continued their week’s theme “Creating a better Barbados”.

Station Sergeant Roland Cobbler spoke to the children, giving them pointers on the benefits of staying crime free.

“It is important that you boys and girls recognise that you have an important role to play in shaping our society. Therefore, how you behave at this age in your life will have some influence on whether you will become a productive member of our society or not,” he said.

As the children listened attentively, Cobbler encouraged them not to use threatening words such as “I would lick you down” or become involved in fighting or using illegal drugs as the number of school age children involved in that kind of activity was on the rise.

Cobbler told the children to remember that school was an institution of learning and they must take responsibility for their learning and behaviour.

“I want to encourage you to place high value on your education, especially your primary school education as it provides you with the foundation that you will need to live a crime free life,” the Station Sergeant added. (AD)
