ST CYPRIAN’S BOYS knocked the defending champions George Lamming Primary off their road tennis throne to become the new titleholders of the Berger Royale/Cave Shepherd National Primary Schools Road Tennis Championship yesterday.

Winning the final 2-1, the Brittons Cross Road, St Michael school proved to George Lamming Primary why they rose to victory the previous year in St Cyprian’s absence.

As the youngster battled it out on the Blackman and Gollop courts, the supporters went wild when St Cyprian’s Fozlo Brewster began the rout, trumping last year’s individual champ Ajani Roach 21-13. His teammate Dominic Browne made Thierry Toppin surrender, beating him 21-10.

Aaron Weatherhead of George Lamming made a brave comeback, beating Jaeden Bowen 21-16,  but unfortunately his road tennis pulse kicked in a few rounds too late to have an impact on the result. (RG)
