SUNIL NARINE’S international cricket career was thrown into uncertainty yesterday after he was suspended from bowling in international cricket because of an illegal action.

The 27-year-old West Indies off-spinner was reported by umpires on November 9 and an independent assessment at an International Cricket Council-accredited testing centre in Loughborough University on November 17 revealed that his action was questionable.

In making the announcement, the ICC said the assessment showed that all variations of Narine’s deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.

According to ICC regulations, Narine’s international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all national cricket federations within domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction. (HG)
