BARBADOS’ WOMEN’S HOCKEY PLAYERS returned home yesterday with golden smiles matching the medals around their necks after their historic capture of the Aquece Rio International Hockey Championship in Brazil.
The Bajans defeated Peru 3-0 in the final to win Barbados’ first internationally accredited hockey competition.
The players were met at the Grantley Adams International Airport by interim chief executive officer of the National Sports Council (NSC), Jerry Blenman, NSC chairman Michael Power, members of the hockey fraternity and friends and family.
