PATRONS ATTENDING the 2015 Hennessy Artistry Show can expect the usually high standard of security.
In wake of the November 13 terrorist attacks that occurred during an Eagles of Death Metal concert in Paris, France at Bataclan Concert Hall, Inspector Peter Gibson said security would be well placed around Kensington Oval during the show.
“Once things like that happen, we always look at it and put things in place, just in case something like that happens down this side,” he said.
The inspector noted there had been concern with persons carrying unsafe objects into venues, but said security would be at all entrances.
“We will ensure that it will be a safe environment for all persons,” he said.
At a venue walk through of key stakeholders for the Fas 7Star showcase to be held at the Oval, Director at FAS Entertainment Al Gilkes agreed, and said more than 100 officers from the Royal Barbados Police Force and about 50 privately contracted security personnel would be deployed at the show.
He said, “We are very aware that society is no longer what it used to be. There is a lot of anger and people are taking out this anger on each other and having a safe environment throughout our show is of paramount interest.”
The show is set to come off on Saturday and it will be headlined by R&B artiste Keyshia Cole, and Jamaicans Jah Cure, Anthony B and Popcaan. It will also feature a medley from soca artistes including King Bubba FM, Kirk Brown and the Energy Band, Damian Marvay, Don Trent and Leadpipe and Saddis. (TSG)
