MEMBERS of the senior national men’s football team recently partnered with the Kiwanis Pride of Barbados and the Barbados Council for the Disabled in a project geared towards standardising disabled parking bays to meet the international requirements.
The footballers put down their boots and picked up paint brushes as they painted parking spots for the disabled at the Massy Super Store in Warrens.
Kiwanis Pride member and physiotherapist for the senior men’s team, Nicola Yarde, was very happy with the venture.
“The abuse of parking spaces for the disabled has been a common occurrence and with the Government ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, it will be a requirement to adhere to the international agreement for the provision of disabled parking bays as well as correct graded curb cuts,” she said.
