Broomes hits back

IT WAS A HARD-HITTING and no holds barred Jeff Broomes who came out swinging for his last speech day at the Parkinson Memorial School yesterday.

Littering his principal’s report with “I have to leave for something good to happen here” so often that the audience started to chorus it with him. The firebrand, often controversial and outspoken principal detailed three years of battles, especially those in the past academic year, he experienced at the school including being on the brink of interdiction, all of which, he said led to the poor academic performance of the students in the year under review.

He spoke to an audience that included his current and retired staff, other principals and deputy principals.
