Spike in visitor arrivals

BARBADOS IS ON TRACK to record an overall growth in visitor arrivals.

The news from president of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA), Sue Springer, gave tourism officials a lot to smile about when the association held its final meeting for the year yesterday at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

She congratulated Minister of Tourism and International Transport Richard Sealy and the team of the new Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) for their “hard work and success in leveraging Barbados’ tourism potential” in several areas.

Springer said the positive growth in long-stay visitor arrivals, increased airlift into Barbados, quality events taking place here and the increase in cruise ship visits and cruise arrivals was “very heartening news”. (GC)
