THINGS ARE CONTINUING to go downhill in White Hill, St Andrew, in both the figurative and literal senses.
The decades-long saga took a turn for the worse last November, and yesterday residents showed the WEEKEND NATION it was not getting any better.
Jacqline George is living with her children in a house that is slowly slipping away. She lives directly opposite the worst of the road damage, along the area closed off last year.
“The road drop and now my home falling back; I don’t feel safe in there anymore. The water pipes bursting and the electric wires stretching. I want help!” she said.
On one side of George’s house is another house where her sister once lived. George said that due to slippage, her sister and her family abandoned the house and moved away. On the other side lives one of her sons and his family, who are also suffering. She said if things continued, the entire family would be homeless. (CA)
